Since I first took up painting in the mid-90s, much of my work has been still life in soft pastel, but I also paint with acrylics and watercolours and have explored portraiture, figures, landscape, and abstraction. I have participated in many group shows and juried shows, and have had several solo shows as well.
There is such a variety of styles in my paintings, you wouldn’t think they were all done by the same person. I enjoy taking a quirky point of view in my figure paintings (such as “Bottoms Up” and “All Decked Out”), zooming in on my subject to find an interesting composition that suggests the bigger picture – or a narrative or character – without actually showing it. In my still life work, I am fond of strong light and colour, as evidenced in the “Pears in Squares” series, and several pieces have been inspired by my fascination with light falling on a still life through venetian blinds. My abstract paintings reflect the enjoyment I find in simply playing with colour, texture, composition, and various techniques and materials.
I am holding this art sale because my marriage has ended, and I am moving from our house on Neville Park Blvd. to a house of my own, which is lovely but much smaller. This has been a difficult but ultimately positive development in my life, and I am excited about the move, but I won’t have room in my new home for all of my art. I hope this sale will help my paintings to find new homes as well.
The work that’s for sale spans about 10 years. There are 80 or so pieces, ranging in size from very small to fairly large, and priced for “quick sale.” You might find a Christmas gift for someone, or get a bargain on a piece you’ve had your eye on in the past. This is a rare opportunity, so I hope to see you on December 10 or 11!
Best wishes and season’s greetings!
