It's funny. I love scenery; when I travel I would rather hike or drive to admire the scenery than visit museums and such. But I don't often paint landscapes. I think it's because landscape painting is so popular; go to any group show, and likely at least half the pieces in it will be landscapes.
However, very few of them, if any, will be done in pastel. That's my preferred medium when I do tackle a landscape, so I can be different in some way! Besides, pastel is a beautiful medium for this genre.
I started this piece in a workshop some years ago but haven't touched it since then, until now. I am running out of abandoned projects to complete!
