Day 310

"Bruce Anderson's Sunset". Pastel, 6 x 6"

Have I mentioned that I've been spending too much time on Twitter? 😉 Amidst the doom and gloom in my feed, occasionally someone posts a thing of beauty. This evening it was a photograph of a sunset posted by Bruce Anderson (formerly of CBC The National At Issue panel), so I did this little painting from it.

Day 307

"Red Meat". Art journal, magazine collage

It's been a while since I did a magazine collage. They tend to be time-consuming. But earlier in the year I did a few and found them to be a good way of expressing my feelings. This evening I decided to give it a try again.

I have been spending way too much time on Twitter lately, obsessing over the impending U.S. election. (Remember my vow to quit potato chip news? Ha!) It's been getting even more disturbing these past few days. I looked for images that captured that feeling.

The term "red meat" has been used to refer to things Trump says that will fire up his supporters (especially the "deplorables"). And I've seen the term "shitstorm" used on Twitter too, to describe this unbelievable campaign.

Day 305

"Stranger Than Fiction". Art journal, watercolour

This started as random marks, then it started to look like a ghoulish face (Halloween tonight). So I steered it in the direction of a particular monster's face. (Take a guess. Hint: U.S. election). It is named for stuff on Twitter tonight: a direct digital hotline between Trump Tower and Moscow? Trump being blackmailed by Russia because they have video of him at some nasty orgy? It's like reading a screenplay that's rejected because it's too far fetched.

It wasn't dry yet when I snapped the picture: because bedtime!

Day 297

"Pooped"  Art journal, watercolour

I'm tuckered out after packing up from the Beach Studio Tour this weekend!

Day 292

Notecard with watercolour doodle and magazine collage

Trying to get a few more notecards made for the Beach Studio Tour this weekend!

Day 291

"Busy Week"  Art journal, acrylic and watercolour

This is a waste-not whatnot, using up acrylic paint from my palette, with some watercolour added. It's a bit frantic, just like I am this week, getting ready for the Beach Studio Tour this weekend!
