Day 55

Same pear as Day 53; I couldn't resist drawing it again, but in a different "pose" and, for a change and a learning experience, a different medium.

I have often been asked why I love pears as a subject. It's because they have so much personality. In a way they resemble figures; unlike, say, apples, they have a "waistline" and "hips" -- in other words, curves. Bosc pears often have a long, curvy stem as well. Add a strong light source and you get interesting shadows, too.

I guess my love affair with pears is ongoing, even though I have done over a hundred paintings of them. Those paintings have all found homes, so it seems I'm not the only one who appreciates pears.
