Day 48

"The House Across the Street"  Art journal, watercolour.

"The House Across the Street"  Art journal, watercolour.

I was working on a couple of my free-form, semi-abstract, loose tree paintings this morning (I hope to show you the finished pieces soon!), so for a change of pace I thought I would try some straight lines and perspective. This is part of the view from my "studio" (actually Kayla's bedroom!).

Day 43: Just Do It

Day 43: Just Do It

Feeling agitated, I put off doing my art journal page, until I decided that I should just try to express my agitation somehow. Once again, it was National Geographic to the rescue. I struggled with it, but both my daughters egged me on: "Just do it, mom." They are right, of course.

"Lemon"  Art journal, ink and watercolour.

"Lemon"  Art journal, ink and watercolour.

I liked the idea I had yesterday, so I thought I would explore it a bit further. Besides, I need practice sketching from life, and my left hand is always available to model.

Day 40: Go with the Flow

"Dappled Depths"  Art journal, watercolour

Day 37: CAA Magazine Challenge

"Somewhere Only We Know"  Art Journal, magazine collage with watercolour, 11 x 6"

The CAA magazine used to go straight from the mailbox to the blue bin, but now I enjoy getting it. I still don't read it. I just do my "CAA magazine challenge": tear out whatever images grab me and put them together somehow. I never know where it's going to take me.

Day 36

Day 36

Another in the "Winter Wonderland" series inspired by the sketch I did on Day 26. This scene is loosely based on the view from our cottage on Grand Lake in the Gatineau Hills, Quebec.

Day 32

"I Wish I Had a River"   Watercolour, 17 x 7"

The title is a nod to my hero, Joni Mitchell. Her song "River" has become a Christmas standard, to my surprise (it's a great song, but it's so very sad!).
