Day 170: Another Collaborative Effort

"Robbins Cul-de-Sac Party Mandala with Participation by Neighbours" Art journal, ink and markers

I went to the annual party at the end of my street and asked people to contribute to today's art, then I filled in some blanks with my usual doodles.

Day 167

"Playing Footsie"  Art journal, ink

Wacky too-tired-for-art doodle. Sigh. You getting bored with this yet?

Day 166

Collaborative doodle with contributions from my Duly Noted singing-mates at our post-concert potluck party.

Day 165

One-minute sketches of Kayla's hand.  Art journal, ink

Another day on the road, this time coming home. Could only manage these bedtime sketches of daughter Kayla's hand.

Day 164

"Alison's Orchid"  Art journal, ink and watercolour

This started with a blind contour drawing of my sister Alison's orchid and then attempts to draw it, then ended like this.

Day 163: More Driving

Art journal, ink

Drove with my sister Alison and brother-in-law Denis from their place in Alexandria, ON to Valleyfield, QC to go out for dinner with Denis's family to celebrate his brother Pierre's 65th birthday. On the right is a quickie sketch of Pierre; on the left is a "car movement drawing" of our drive home under a half moon.

Day 162

"Hither and Yon"  Art journal, watercolour

Today Alison and I drove to Ottawa, did a few errands there, then went up to check on our cottage, then came back to Alexandria on the back roads (plus a ferry). Hence the title of this bedtime watercolour doodle.

Day 161: On the Road Again

"Behind Auchentoshan"  Art journal, pencil and ink

I arrived in Alexandria, ON today to spend a few days with my sister Alison, who lives in a lovely rural setting. This is a sketch of the view behind her house.

Day 160: Art on the Go

"Driving Home from Stratford"  Art journal, ink

Had a lovely day trip to Stratford today with dear friend Kevin, to see "As You Like It". On the way home I made this by resting my pen on the page and letting the movement of the car move my hand (Kevin was driving), adding the occasional shape of things seen along the way.

Day 159

Art journal, ballpoint pen

Did some quick sketches of the nice lunch out at El Catrin today with my mum and sisters.

Day 158

"Boo Boo"  Art journal, pencil

Named for the cut on my finger and the stupid mistake that put it there!

Day 155

Day 155

I'm so pooped this evening, I did my art of the day while lying on the couch with my sketchbook resting on my tummy. It's a blind contour drawing (done without looking at the paper, only looking at my feet).

Day 154

"Snake and Ladders"  Mixed media, 24 x 18"

This started out as another watercolour painting of cherry trees in bloom, but I didn't like how it was going, so I changed direction. A lot.

Day 153

"Bedtime Threadtime"  Art journal, watercolour, ink and yarn

Lucille gave me some pieces of fancy yarn not long enough for the width of her loom, so I stitched them onto my art journal page. (I put down watercolour first, and added some pen doodles after.)

Day 152

"Bedtime Doodle" and "Lucille's Twig Chair"  Art journal, ink

Today's sketch (practiced some negative space drawing) and, for good measure, last night's bedtime doodle.
