Day 508: Leap Taken

"Leap of Faith"  Watercolour, 12 x 16"

Yesterday I posted this work in progress and said that it needed a leap of faith. I really hit the "pain barrier" with this one and was feeling discouraged. But today I took the leap (and recorded it for posterity; see video below). It was worth the risk!

Day 506

Some time ago my daughter suggested I try doing one of my forest paintings with different (i.e., not "natural") colours, so I finally did:

"Forest Fantasia"  Watercolour, 8 8"

It makes the more "natural" forest scenes, like this one also finished today, look almost boring!

Title TBD.  Watercolour, 8 x 8"

Day 505

I decided this painting from back on Day 392 needed some tweaking. I like it better now.

"United We Stand"  Watercolour, 12 x 16"

I also worked on these three new ones today (works in progress):

Day 498

Here's how the third of those watercolours turned out:

Title TBD. Watercolour, 16 x 12"

Also today, I finished the "grisaille" on this one; next step is to glaze on transparent colour:

Acrylic, 20 x 20"

Day 493: Works in progress

I'm exhausted after the Beach Studio Tour this weekend and not enough sleep last night (thanks to wildlife outside my bedroom window -- raccoons and a skunk!). But I managed to add some "resist" to these pieces before falling into bed. (The white stuff is masking fluid -- actually liquid latex -- that dries clear and "resists" subsequent layers of paint, then all gets peeled off later.)
